“Blogmas”
If you’ve ever heard of Vlogmas, you would know it involves posting a video everyday, usually holiday related, as a countdown to Christmas. I’m not sure when it first started and I don’t feel like researching to find out, but to my knowledge it originated with YouTubers circa my middle school years.
We as fans love it. Yes, we. I know you all eat it up, too. Or at least we used to. It’s definitely not as special as it used to be since a lot more people participate. My little thumbs can hardly keep up in my overflowing feed of vlogmas videos. Because of this, I know if I participated my content would get, for lack of a better phrase, lost in the sauce.
Plus, I truly just don’t want to post everyday. The videos I’m most proud of take me a while to make, and I would lose that pride and my creativity with each forced video. But just as I was shutting down the idea entirely, a lightbulb surged on over my head. And because I didn’t duck, I’m here typing this. I’m finally writing again.
This is my attempt at Vlogmas Blogmas.
I won’t be blogging every single day, and definitely not the first four days of December seeing as they’ve already come and gone. But I will be committing to six blogs between now and Christmas (I’m not sure whether or not I’ll be including this in the round up or as a warm up just yet).
I asked friends on Instagram for suggestions on topics they want to hear from me on, so those will definitely make an appearance. Feel free to leave suggestions below this post, too! Otherwise it may just be babble or crappy poetry, anything really to just write.
My brain is happier when I’m writing; using too many words in a sentence or descriptions with the wrong one. Plus I’m good at it— even better when I practice.
So, thank you for being here and happy reading!
xoxo LANEY
P.S. Fine, I did some searching and it appears Vlogmas started in 2011 with YouTuber Ingrid Nilsen, so props to her.
